The activity described in these pages may help during times of stress, anxiety, anger, fear, or sadness. The goal is to find some peace and understanding inside, if only for the moment. Sometimes just a few minutes of serenity and safety can keep us going. This exercise is not intended to take the place of professional help. If you often find yourself struggling with issues that you can't seem to shake, consult a helping professional. Special thanks to Nancy J. Napier for her book Getting Through the Day, containing a guided visualization from which this garden exercise has evolved.
